Best Tablets For Beginner Artists

Hello, hello! Are you a budding artist who is just starting out on digital art? Or maybe you've been using a mouse for awhile and want to upgrade for steady workflow and smooth linework? Well, do not worry! This is the right post for you! This post will be focusing about the best, cheap tablets for artists who are just starting out in digital art, or are tight on budget and want to upgrade from mouse to tablet.

So, anyone who has heard of Wacom knows that their tablets can get pricey, right? Well that is true, BUT! They do sell tablets for a relatively cheaper price than their models aimed for professionals

These are Wacom's cheapest tablets in their tablet products for around $70 brand new, while around $60 for refurbished and are suited for beginners as it's fairly basic. However, the Intuos Draw is only available in small size whereas the Art model has a medium size available. So if working in a small work area doesn't fit you and want a bigger one, the Intuos Art Medium is the right choice, that is if you don't mind shelling out around a hundred bucks for it.
Other models are available as well, such as Intuos Photo, Intuos Comic, and the older Intuos Pen and Touch.
Another thing to add as well is the Intuos Art comes with Corel Painter Essentials 5, while the Intuos Draw comes with ArtRage Lite.

Personally, I've never owned any of the basic Intuos line and have only owned the older Bamboo model of it so I can't give much any insights about these. But considering the basic Intuos are just the upgraded versions of the Bamboo models, I'd say the drawing experience for it is fairly similar to the Bamboo line.

This one is Wacom's newest tablet in the basic Intuos line. The pressure level has been raised to 4096 and just like the Art, there's a medium size available. The tablet is sold in two different models, one with Bluetooth support and one without Bluetooth support. The non-Bluetooth model ranges around $70 dollars while the Bluetooth model ranges to almost $100. The tablet comes with three software: Corel Painter Essentials 6, Corel AfterShot 3 and Clip Studio Paint Pro depending on the model of choice as stated on Wacom's website. Multi-touch isn't supported which is a surprise considering having a Bluetooth support model.
As usual, the medium size is slightly pricier than the small size so if you're willing to shell out extra bucks for a bigger work space, then go for it!

Now let's enter the land of Wacom alternatives! Lately, there's been a rise in the tablet industry so Wacom is having some competition with other tablet brands, Huion being one of them. This tablet is similar to Wacom's Intuos Pro minus the tilt and touch function. Unlike Wacom, the older models of Huion's tablet pens require battery, however for this model the pen has a rechargeable battery so you don't have to worry about spending on triple A batteries. The work space is fairly big so you have enough room to draw on it. As of typing this post, the tablet is at sale for $51.99. So if you're tight on budget and don't want to spend $70 on a Wacom tablet, the H610 Pro is the right choice for you!

Also, I will be doing my review on this tablet soon. ;)

Another Wacom alternative on the list and another well-known non-Wacom brand aside from Huion, XP-Pen. This tablet like the H610 Pro gives you a feel of the Intuos Pro tablet by Wacom minus the tilt and the multi-touch. The active area is fairly big so you have room to glide your pen around. Like Wacom's pens, XP-Pen is one of the few alternative tablet brands that uses battery-free pens except for their larger Artist models which has rechargeable battery pens. The tablet also comes in two different colors: black and white. It is fairly cheaper than the H610 Pro as well, costing around $49.99 in Amazon. So if you're on a tight budget, this tablet is for you!

I know the list feels lacking as there are more cheaper non-Wacom tablet brands but the ones mentioned here are my pick and are reliable in my opinion. So if you want more options for cheap tablets you can Google them up.
Anyway, I hope this helps you in your tablet hunting!

In the next post, I will be doing either a review on the Huion H610 Pro or a list of cheap Cintiq alternatives. Who knows?
You'll just have to wait and see. ;)
